Quickstart
Ten minutes from an empty store to a product a customer can subscribe to. You will need admin access to your Shopify store and a product to sell.
1. Install the app
Open Super Subscription from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions. Installation asks for access to products, orders, customers and subscription contracts — see Privacy and your data for exactly what each one is used for.
When the install finishes you land on the dashboard with your store already connected.
2. Let Shopify sync your catalogue
The first sync pulls your products and customers across. It runs on its own and usually takes under a minute for a few thousand products.
You do not need to wait for it to finish before creating a plan — but the product picker in step 3 only shows what has synced so far.
3. Create your first plan
Go to Plans → Create plan. The wizard has three steps.
Plan basics. Name it something your team will recognise — customers never see this name. Then add your delivery options: one row per cadence you want to offer.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Label | What the shopper sees, e.g. "Every month" |
| Deliver every | The cadence — 1 week, 10 days, 1 month, 90 days |
| Pricing | Percentage off, a fixed amount off, or a set price |
| Minimum cycles | How many deliveries before they can cancel |
| Maximum cycles | Stop automatically after this many, or leave blank for open-ended |
| Advantages | Up to four short benefit lines shown under the option |
Billing and pricing. A live preview shows exactly what the shopper will see on your product page, including the discounted price and the saving in money — not just a percentage.
Review. Check it and publish.
Attach your products
A plan with no products attached applies to your entire catalogue — it will appear on every product page in your store. The wizard warns you and shows the real count. Tick the products you actually mean.
4. Add the widget to your theme
Subscriptions appear on your product page through a Shopify theme block.
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Open a product template.
- Click Add block in the product information section and choose Subscribe & save.
- Drag it directly under the price, above your Add to cart button.
- Save.
Placement matters
Shopify can only add the block to the bottom of the section, so it lands below Add to cart by default. Every major subscription app puts this control under the price and above the buy button, because that is where a shopper decides. Move it up.
5. Test it yourself
Open the product page in a normal browser tab. You should see your cadences with the discounted price. Pick one, add to cart, and check the cart line says your plan.
Complete a test order with Shopify's Bogus gateway if your store is still in test mode. Within a few seconds the subscription appears under Subscribers in the dashboard, with the order you just placed recorded as its first charge.
What next
- Set up Notifications so customers get renewal reminders
- Turn on the Customer portal so they can manage their own subscriptions
- Read Billing and renewals to understand when charges actually happen
- Consider Prepaid plans or Build-a-box once the basics are running
