Notifications
Super Subscription sends transactional messages to your subscribers by email and, optionally, WhatsApp. Every message goes out from your own sending identity, not ours.
The messages
| Message | When it sends | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription confirmed | Right after the first checkout | Sets expectations about what recurs and when |
| Renewal reminder | A few days before each charge | The single best defence against chargebacks |
| Order confirmation | After each successful renewal | Tells them it shipped, not just that they paid |
| Payment failed | On a failed charge | Contains the link to fix it |
| Payment method expiring | Before a card expires | Prevents the failure entirely |
| Subscription paused / resumed | On the change | Confirms an action they took |
| Subscription cancelled | On cancellation | Closes the loop, and is a last retention moment |
Each can be switched on or off under Settings → Notifications.
Editing the wording
Every message is editable under Copy & translations. You can rewrite the subject and body, and translate them. The templates use your store name, the customer's name, the product, the amount and the next date.
Renewal reminders
If you turn on one thing, make it this. A customer who is reminded before a charge either lets it proceed or changes it — both are far better outcomes than a surprise charge becoming a dispute. Some jurisdictions require advance notice; check what applies to you.
Email delivery
Email sends from a domain you verify, so messages arrive as from your store and land in inboxes rather than spam. Setup is under Settings → Email: add the DNS records shown and the app verifies them.
Until a domain is verified, email is written to a local outbox rather than sent — so a misconfiguration is visible rather than silently dropping customer mail.
WhatsApp
WhatsApp reaches customers who ignore email, and is particularly effective for renewal reminders and failed payments in markets where it is the default messaging channel.
To enable it, connect a WhatsApp Business provider under Settings → WhatsApp. Messages use pre-approved templates, as WhatsApp requires for business-initiated conversations, and customers must have opted in.
If WhatsApp is unavailable or a customer has not opted in, the email still sends. WhatsApp is an addition, never a replacement.
What we never send
- Marketing. Every message here is transactional and tied to an action or a scheduled charge.
- Anything to a customer with no email, which is why protected customer fields matter — without email access, notifications have nowhere to go.
Checking what was sent
Each subscription's timeline records every notification sent, when, and to which channel. If a customer says they were not told, that is where to look.
